Rafflesi Butterfly – Chaetodon rafflesi
Care Level: Moderate
Reef Safe: No
Minimum Tank Size: 100 gallons
Highlighting a bold Yellow body and faint black lines, the Rafflesi Butterfly can grow to 6 inches. Like all butterflyfish the Rafflesi Butterfly requires plenty of hiding places as well as ample swimming room. Commonly known as the Latticed Butterfly fish, it is not considered reef safe due to their propensity to nip at corals and anemones. They are also territorial towards conspecifics and Butterflyfish in general unless added together.
The Rafflesi Butterflyfish requires pristine water conditions to thrive and the larger the tank the better. This species will also eat Aiptasia as well as feather dusters and worms. Algae should be present in the tank for grazing and marine seaweed should be fed often. They may be difficult to acclimate. We recommend feeding various types of frozen and live food to entice them to eat.
